What is a “big idea”?

With the requirements for the PYP planner and the MYP unit planner, many educators around the world are grappling with what the big ideas are. Grant Wiggins, a well respected author and frequent collaborator with Jay McTighe provides some very interesting thoughts and clarity on this subject on the website http://www.authenticeducation.org/.  Big Ideas  allows us to understand where to place the best focus for learning when planning a unit.
